[CEI] Chrome Extension Ideas #196
ideas for arXiv, Twitter, Call Center, Manipulation
Welcome to the four new people joining this week! Feel free to reply to this email and let me know how I can make this newsletter more useful.
Last week’s premium ideas hit some sneaky-high value problems:
speeding up how lawyers access key info (links, legal cases)
replacing expensive or clunky workflows with dead-simple extensions.
When you base ideas on what people are already hunting for, not just what might be cool, you give yourself way better odds of landing paying users.
You can explore the full list with a 7-day free trial. Give it a spin.
Idea #1
A Chrome Extension That Reveals Author Affiliations on arXiv to Track Research Origins
i kinda wish arxiv displayed the author affiliation
i want to know every time bytedance/qwen/deepseek/meta/anthropic/etc. is publishing a paper
right now i am basically just trying to learn who all the researchers are at these labs lolBecause arXiv doesn’t display affiliations, you’re left guessing which lab, company, or university is behind a paper.
This extension fixes that. It scrapes the PDF, extracts affiliations, and displays them right on the arXiv page. So you can spot trends, track key labs, and follow the real movers in AI research.
Keywords to rank for:
"arXiv author affiliations extension"
"arXiv research origins tool"
"arXiv paper source identifier"
Idea #2
A Chrome extension that lets you give your Twitter contacts nicknames
What if twitter had the option to add nicknames for the people you follow and that nickname would appear as their display nameTired of trying to remember who’s who? Want to tag someone with an inside joke or how you actually know them?
This extension lets you swap out handles and display names with whatever makes sense to you, and keeps it that way as you scroll.
Built for folks who want Twitter to feel a little more personal… and a little less random username soup.
Keywords to rank for:
"Customize Twitter display names"
"Twitter custom name extension"
"Change Twitter usernames Chrome"
