[CEI] Chrome Extension Ideas #211
ideas for Cinebuff, Vibe Coders, Privacy, and Developers
Last week’s premium drop was all about smart leverage
One idea turns SOC 2 compliance into a passive affiliate flywheel (yes, really)
The other syncs learners on YouTube to boost retention like multiplayer mode for brains.
Both are clean wedges: one B2B, one edu-social, both born from real user pain and underserved workflows.
If you’re building with an eye for distribution baked in, these are worth a look.

Idea #1
A Chrome extension that flags controversies involving directors and lead actors on YouTube
Damn, I watched that. Someone should make like a browser extension or something for youtube which flags the controversies of the director and lead 3 actors so you can double check if you want to watch the movie and support those involved. You click on a movie trailer or an interview clip, and before you hit play, a small banner quietly tells you: “Director accused of workplace abuse in 2017, read more.”
That’s what this extension would do. Scan the video’s metadata (title, description, cast list) and cross-check it against public databases like IMDb, Wikipedia, or entertainment journalism sources. If someone involved in the film or show has been part of a major controversy, it surfaces a short summary and a link for context.
You’d still decide whether to watch, but at least you’d know.
You could even set filters for what you care about: labor issues, harassment, political affiliations, or other ethical flags. And for creators, it could display a transparent “No known controversies” badge when applicable.
Idea #2
A Chrome extension that extracts and organizes AI prompts for team collaboration and debugging
Feature request to boltdotnew
- ability to extract prompts used in a project, for analysis and reflection purposes
would be useful for the team to fix issues in the long term, since users can share their prompts over.
PS - might try building a chrome extension for this but by the time i finish this post, the team at boltdotnew might quickly launch it if they find it useful 😂You’re mid-project in Bolt.new, trying to figure out why a prompt worked yesterday but fails today. Instead of digging through endless chat logs or project histories, this extension quietly captures every prompt you and your team use, organizes them by project, timestamp, and contributor, and makes them instantly searchable.
Think of it like a “Prompt GitHub.” Each change is logged, so you can see what version of a prompt produced which output. You can tag prompts (“data cleaning,” “UI generation,” “tone tuning”), share them with teammates, or export them for training docs and retros.
It could plug directly into the Prompt API, scraping prompt input/output metadata from your browser, and feed it into a clean interface or shared workspace. Perfect for debugging, onboarding, or just keeping the chaos of experimentation under control.
In short: a tool that makes prompt engineering collaborative, transparent, and actually traceable, instead of lost in everyone’s browser tabs.
